HP announces the next step in digital web printing

LOS ANGELES – HP today introduced the graphic arts industry's largest, most productive commercial digital color press, bringing the concept of mass customization to printing by combining the personalization features of digital printing with the efficiencies of high-volume production.

And with this lead to their press release, HP announced the 42" digital web press.  Expect this press to blur the line between sheetfed and web printing, particularly for book work, but increasingly saddle stitching as well.

Wider webs, faster speeds, and shorter run lengths will continue to challenge off line and near line finishing solutions for this equipment.  Look for integrated solutions for book and saddle stitch products from vendors like Muller Martini  to expand further into this market.
