Why do we care? From Marvin Makofsky's presentation at the Greater New York Postal Customer Council
"Scheduled for implementation on May 14, 2007, the new shape-based system reflects the fact that different types of mail incur different handling costs. As a result, postage rates for lightweight flats and parcels will increase by 30 to 100 percent, in some cases. Makofsky addressed the key issues concerning the new rates and what steps USPS customers must take to minimize these extraordinary rate increases."
Mail regs will affect all of us soon in terms of preferred sizes and formats and equipment to produce them.
